
In August 2022, alumina production in South America stood at 996,000 tonnes, reflecting an increase of 22,000 tonnes or 2.21 per cent month-on-month. In July, the output totalled 974,000 tonnes, a surge of 73,000 tonnes or 8.10 per cent from 901,000 tonnes in June. That brought the three-month production to 2.871 million tonnes; however, down by 3.5 per cent from 2.975 million tonnes.

On a year-on-year calculation, alumina output in South America edged a 6.30 per cent hike over 937,000 tonnes.
From January to August, South America’s alumina output totalled 7.603 million tonnes, down by 9.21 per cent from 8.303 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Daily average alumina production in South America stood at 32,100 tonnes, up by 2.23 per cent month-on-month and 6.29 per cent year-on-year.
North America’s alumina production in August 2022 amounted to 211,000 tonnes, representing an increase of 10,000 tonnes month-on-month from 201,000 tonnes. On a year-on-year calculation, the output recorded a dip of 1,000 tonnes from 212,000 tonnes.
From January to August, North America’s alumina production came in at 1.595 million tonnes, down by 7.75 per cent from 1.729 million tonnes.
Daily average alumina output in North America during August’22 was 6,800 tonnes, compared to 6,500 tonnes a month ago but restrained year-on-year.
