Sohar Aluminium — First Smelter in the Gulf to be aligned with the Draft Reference Document on Best Available Techniques (BAT) in the Non-Ferrous Metals Industries published by the European Commission on Integrated Pollution
Prevention and Control (Draft July 2009).
On July 30, 2011, Sohar Aluminium received the final environmental permits for its smelter and power plant facilities after demonstrating alignment with the above standard.
