SMM aluminium price skids RMB100/t today, down 2.04% M-o-M; Alumina spot price loses RMB1/t

The Shanghai Metal Market, today, on July 19, notified that China’s aluminium ingot price has deflected RMB 100 per tonne downwards to officially settle at RMB 18,270 per tonne, with average prices circling between RMB 18,250 per tonne and RMB 18,290 per tonne.

The SMM aluminium price today is quite similar to what it was on July 10, but on a Month-on-Month scale, it has fallen by RMB 380 per tonne or 2.04 per cent from RMB 18,650 per tonne recorded on June 9. The aluminium spot price is heavily influenced by the alumina spot prices, and the easing of the latter gives ample support to the first.

The eight major provinces in China all have marked de-escalating prices today, with only one exception in Foshan, where the aluminium spot price has increased by RMB 30 per tonne to rest at RMB 18,320 per tonne. In Gongyi and Hangzhou, the aluminium spot prices have slumped by RMB 110 per tonne to officially close at RMB 18,180 per tonne and RMB 18,260 per tonne, respectively. In Wuxi, the aluminium spot price shed RMB 90 per tonne to settle down at RMB 18,260 per tonne, as it is in Hangzhou. The aluminium spot price in Shenyang has dived down by RMB 70 per tonne to close at RMB 18,240 per tonne. The aluminium price in Tianjin has dipped by RMB 60 per tonne to stop at RMB 18,320 per tonne, followed by an RMB 50 per tonne fall in Linyi, where the aluminium spot price halted at RMB 18,270 per tonne. In Chongqing, the aluminium spot price receded by RMB 30 per tonne to close at RMB 18,300 per tonne.

The average price of low-carbon aluminium has spiked by RMB 41 per tonne to officially close at RMB 18,955 per tonne.

The price of high-purity aluminium (99.99%) and the price of high-purity aluminium (99.996%) have both downsized by RMB 100 per tonne, officially closing at RMB 25,800 per tonne and RMB 26,800 per tonne.

The alumina spot price in China has gained RMB 1 per tonne, closing at RMB 2,842 per tonne, while the alumina spot price in Guizhou has accumulated RMB 5 per tonne, reaching RMB 2,825 per tonne.

The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has plunged by RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 18,950 per tonne, while the price of aluminium alloy (A360) has also lost RMB 100 per tonne, anchoring at RMB 19,350 per tonne.

The price of aluminium powder has decreased by RMB 0.10 per kg to rest at RMB 20.10 per kg, with the average prices ranging between RMB 20 per kg and RMB 20.20 per kg.
