The organizing committee is working on a world-class programme that focuses on key issues in the global bauxite, alumina, primary aluminium and aluminium processing industry with special reference to China. The symposium will provide an excellent platform for the international experts, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and representatives of various companies to network, exchange ideas, brainstorm possibilities, and discuss possible solutions to the problems currently faced by the industry.
The organizers have so far received about 50 abstracts on various aspects of aluminium industry value chain. Some of the important topics to be discussed at the event are: Present Status of Aluminium Industry in China by Wen Xianjun, Vice President, China Nonferrous Metal Industry Association; Indian bauxite alumina industry and potential of its growth by Mukesh Kumar, President, Vedanta, India; and New Red Mud Flocculants for High Silica Bauxites by D. J. Stigers, Cytec, USA.
A series of post-conference visits (chargeable) has been planned by the IBAAS-CHALIECO-SINR team to the Pingguo bauxite mine and alumina refinery and Xinjiang Nongliushi Aluminum Smelter. Visits to the aluminium downstream facilities, however, will be confirmed later, said the organizers.
Worldhotel Grand Dushulake Suzhou in China has been selected as the proposed venue for the symposium. A circular to this effect was published by the organizing team last week.
