Sapa aluminium tubes plant in Shanghai gets ISO certification
In order to meet all the prescribed requirements, the Shanghai facility involved all employees in a full-year improvement program. The program included company policy, environmental and safety compliance, documentation, and work procedures.
After successfully completing the audit process this past summer, the site received its new certificates in November.
In 2010, the welded tubes plant had achieved both ISO 9001 and TS 16949. Now, with the additional certificates, the plant has set a benchmark for the tube welding industry in China. It is the only site among the local competition with both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 compliance.
The Shanghai plant is part of Sapa's Precision Tubing business area, which employs 2,000 people at 17 plants and product and process development centers around the world. Customers use Sapa's aluminium tubing solutions in heat transfer applications for the automotive, HVAC and solar market segments, and utilize tube lines for carrying liquids or gases.
