Aluminium exports by the Russian Federation increased last year totalling 3,481,400 tonnes, reported the State Customs Committee of the Russian Federation. Aluminium, as per 2015 Custom data, represents the fourth highest dollar-valued export commodity (valued at US$6.9 billion) constituting 2.1 per cent of the total exports from Russia. Over the last three years, aluminium export market has remained fairly unchanged with little impact noted from the surge in aluminium supply from China which has added to the worries of other primary metal producers across the world.

{alcircleadd}According to the export-import data gathered from the Federation's major ports, the country exported 3.56 million tonnes of aluminium (both alloyed and non-alloyed ingots) in 2015, which increased 0.84 per cent to total at 3.59 million tonnes in 2016. In 2017, till October, Russia is estimated to ship around 3.06 million tonnes of aluminium, up 1.9 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
Realization from aluminium exports in Russia has also hold its grounds over the last three years with marginal decline year-on-year. The country exported aluminium worth US$6.9 billion in 2016, which came down 10.1 per cent to be valued at US$6.2 billion in 2016. This year, till October, Russia is estimated to ship aluminium worth US$5.3 billion to the international markets, down 5.3 percent from the last year.
The major countries where Russia shipped its aluminium ingots to in 2016 are Japan (528217.54 tonnes), Turkey (360074.51 tonnes), Poland (168043.31 tonnes), Germany (167517.25 tonnes), and Italy (132538.87 tonnes).

In the first nine months of 2016, the company produced a total volume of 2.756 million tonnes of aluminium. Its total aluminium sales volumes increased to 2.89 million tonnes, up 4.9 per cent from the previous year.
