Rusal sees 12.5 mln tonne global alumina capacity closing in 2016

Rusal expects 12.5 million tonnes of alumina capacity to be closed worldwide this year, an executive from Rusal was reported saying in a recent interview.
Rusal's own modernization program, however, will increase its alumina capacity by about 430,000 tonnes when it is complete by May or June, Yakov Itskov, director of Rusal’s alumina division, the executive was quoted as saying.
