According to SMM survey statistics, the operating rate of the secondary aluminium alloy industry in September was 35.0 per cent, up 3.1 percentage points M-o-M but down 6.7 percentage points Y-o-Y. Industry production continued its recovery trend, but the overall operating level remained below the same period last year. On the demand side, September marked the traditional peak consumption season, with downstream orders recovering from August. End-use demand from automobiles and other sectors improved marginally, but the peak season effect has yet to fully materialise. Luiri Gold Limited announced that it has entered into a binding share purchase agreement to acquire Aluminium Metal Recyclers (Proprietary) Limited (AMR). AMR is a South African company which owns and operates a metal processing facility. Benjamin Hubert has collaborated with British furniture brand Allermuir to create a collection made entirely from recycled materials, which will launch during this year's London Design Festival. The Axyl collection, designed by Hubert's studio Layer for Allermuir, comprises furniture pieces each made totally from reclaimed materials. Recycled aluminium forms the frames of a chair, stool and table, while the shells, seats and tabletops are available in recycled wood fibre, timber or nylon. A three-year data snapshot shows a fairly stable aluminium scrap export growth trend by the country looking to grow through the export-driven route. Trade group the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) has reported that local authorities collecting cartons for recycling poly aluminium layers has increased in China.
