
In March 2022, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe stood at 350,000 tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month hike of 11.46 per cent from 314,000 tonnes. However, in February, the output was down by 10.03 per cent or 35,000 tonnes month-on-month from 349,000 tonnes.

On a year-on-year calculation, Russia & Eastern Europe’s primary aluminium production in March 2022 stood down by only 3,000 tonnes from 353,000 tonnes.
In Q1 2022 ended March 31, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe totalled 1.013 million tonnes – 2.78 per cent less than 1.042 million tonnes in Q4 2021. On a year-on-year basis, the output registered a drop of 1.17 per cent from 1.025 million tonnes.
In the entire year 2021, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe amounted to 4.139 million tonnes.
In Western & Central Europe, primary aluminium production stood at 253,000 tonnes, registering an increase of 23,000 tonnes or 10 per cent from 230,000 tonnes in February. The output in March increased following a downfall of 32,000 tonnes or 12.21 per cent from 262,000 tonnes in January.
But on a year-on-year basis, primary aluminium production in Western & Central Europe faced a decline of 12.15 per cent from 288,000 tonnes, found IAI.
In 1Q2022, Western & Central Europe churned out 745,000 tonnes – 9.7 per cent less quarter-on-quarter than 825,000 tonnes and 10.46 per cent year-on-year than 832,000 tonnes.
