
Social inventories of primary aluminium in China have extended the fall this week to stand at 910,000 tonnes, as of December 16, found the Shanghai Metals Market. SMM data shows the inventories have plunged today by 42,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, contributed mainly by Wuxi.
A week ago, on December 9, primary aluminium inventories stood at 952,000 tonnes after being decreased by 50,000 tonnes week-on-week.

In Wuxi, primary aluminium inventories have plummeted by 24,000 tonnes from the previous week to stand at 354,000 tonnes, while the inventories in Nanhai have declined by 9,000 tonnes to settle at 211,000 tonnes. In Hangzhou and Shanghai, primary aluminium inventories have shrunk by 6,000 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes, respectively, to hover around 78,000 tonnes and 83,000 tonnes, respectively.
However, in Gongyi, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Linyi, primary aluminium inventories have remained restrained at 89,000 tonnes, 69,000 tonnes, 2,000 tonnes, and 24,000 tonnes, respectively.
