LME aluminium price hikes by US$33/t to close at US$2,630/t; SHFE price moves up by US$71/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,605 per tonne on Thursday and closed at US$2,690.5 per tonne, an increase of US$80 per tonne or 3.08 percent.

On Thursday, December 16, LME aluminium cash (bid) price hiked by US$32 per tonne or by 1.23 percent to close in at US$2,628 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price also levelled up by US$33 per tonne or by 1.27 percent to come in at US$2,630 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price totalled at US$2,644 per tonne and US$2,645 per tonne for the same day. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price was recorded at US$2,638 per tonne and US$2,643 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock registered at 984650 tonnes. Live warrants and cancelled warrant for the same day was found out to be 849025 tonnes and 135625 tonnes, respectively.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price settled at US$2,630.71 per tonne.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Friday, December 17, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE increased by US$71 per tonne to settle at US$3,064 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed up 0.52 percent or RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 19205 per tonne, with open interest down 15732 lots to 135997 lots.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 19,215 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 19,535 per tonne and RMB 19,215 per tonne before closing at RMB 19,515 per tonne, up RMB 455 per tonne or 2.39 percent.
