AMAG Austria Metall AG, based in Ranshofen, Austria, has won the ALUMINIUM Innovation Award 2026 in the “Technology & Product Innovation” category with AMAG CrossAlloy®.57. The industry award was presented for the first time in 2026 at the international ALUMINIUM trade fair in Düsseldorf. Together with the trade publication *International Aluminium Journal*, the trade fair organiser RX Global recognises pioneering innovations in the global aluminium industry. The category focuses on technologies and products that set new standards in terms of quality, performance and versatility.
“We are delighted to receive this award. It is a special recognition of the work of everyone involved. AMAG CrossAlloy®.57 demonstrates the potential of developing new aluminium alloys. Our priority now is to consistently advance its industrialisation,” says Victor Breguncci, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG.
New material possibilities for demanding applications

Behind the award-winning material from Ranshofen lies a question that has long been the subject of intensive research: How can high strength and good formability be combined in an aluminium alloy? This is precisely where AMAG CrossAlloy®.57 comes in. The material combines high strength with good formability, robust weldability and good corrosion resistance, thereby bringing together the characteristic properties of the established 5xxx and 7xxx alloy families. AMAG CrossAlloy®.57 thus opens up entirely new application possibilities in growth markets such as aerospace, defence and robotics.
AMAG CrossAlloy®.57 can be produced on existing industrial equipment and is available as coil, sheet and plate. Prototype components have already been tested in the automotive industry and the transport sector.
This innovative material concept also offers potential for the use of recycled material. It enables a wider range of scrap streams to be utilised. AMAG CrossAlloy®.57 thus combines technical performance with circular economy principles and strengthens AMAG’s leading position in innovation and sustainability.
