The Italian Sea Group has finally taken the wraps off its newly modified 47-meter Perini Navi sailing yacht, flaunting an aluminium hull. Expected to be delivered by 2024, this modified yacht features a wide V-shaped bow that helps it maintain a stable heel angle. It also has a 200-foot carbon-fiber mast that holds a main sail and jib with a combined area of almost 13,000 square feet. Meanwhile, the ingenious new sail management system uses captive winches below deck to track and regulate the sails.
A newly developed variable keel draught has improved hull efficiency and seaworthiness even further. When the keel is down, the permanent section of the keel box has been lowered, freeing up the centreboard dimension, allowing for a maximum draught of 11 metres. When the keel is up, the minimum draught drops to just 3.9 metres, allowing the yacht to navigate narrow coves and coastal cruising areas with ease.
When compared to sailing yachts of comparable length, the sloop has a beam of 10.5 metres and a gross tonnage of 390 GT, putting her at the top of her class in terms of volume. Her massive volume accommodates up to ten guests in four ensuite cabins and a large owner's studio that converts for maximum flexibility.
The sloop will be equipped with dual rudders that may be synchronised using a "fly-by-wire" technology, allowing for increased agility when sailing and while approaching ports. Guests will have no issue getting to and from the boat owing to a 6.5-metre tender that is discreetly placed in the bow of the yacht and is equipped with a specialised crane for easy operations.
A 62-meter carbon fibre mast will have a 1,275-square-meter upwind sail set (comprising the main sail and the jib). Meanwhile, a self-tracking headsail with a transversal track and retractable staysail is part of the sloop's revolutionary sail management system. The main sail's halyard and sheet are controlled by the No. 2 reel captive winches below deck.
During non-sailing times, the boat will be propelled by a CAT engine generating 533 kW/h at 2100 rpm and two main generators producing 86 kW/h each. The maximum speed, according to TISG, is roughly 13 knots. The range of the boat is predicted to be 3,500 nautical miles when it is travelling at 10 knots.
The Perini Navi aspires to provide a pleasant and beautiful onboard atmosphere for its passengers, in addition to its high-performance attributes. With an uncluttered sweep of the foredeck and broad corridors for easy access to all other parts of the sailing yacht, al fresco living is provided on a large swim platform and big flybridge. The renderings show a calm and contemporary home with a nautical motif, with plenty of natural materials and a sophisticated colour palette. Perini Navi's in-house design team created everything.
