
The Covid-19 pandemic has developed a deadly impact. It created an economic slowdown in Oman, compounded by the whimsy of the international oil market, resulting in a series of youth protests in the country. More than hundreds of unemployed Omani youth, protesting mass layoffs, took to the streets in May 2021 and the government had to use force to put an end to these protests.

Oman, a nation on the south-eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia has recorded import of 7760 tonnes of aluminium foil during 2019-20 and the expenditure occurred for the import remained at $23.07 million.

In 2019, Oman imported 5000 tonnes of aluminium foil in the country and the expenditure occurred for the import accounted for $16.14 million, whereas, in 2020 the import saw a sharp downfall by 44.80%, as the import volume dropped to 2760 tonnes and the expenditure also plunged to $6.93 million.
The import for 2021 is predicted with an aggressive growth of 139.89%, as the import volume is estimated to surge at 6621 million and the expenditure is also envisioned to jump at $21.06 million.
The major trading destinations for Oman’s import of aluminium foil are China, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UK, UAE, etc.
