Organised by Sohar Aluminium in partnership with the Environment Authority, the third Aluminium Scrap Recycling Symposium is going to take place on Wednesday, April 22, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Muscat. The event will be conducted in the presence of the esteemed patronage of Dr Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, the Chairman of the Environment Authority.
{alcircleadd}As a part of the ongoing efforts to boost the aluminium scrap recycling industry's efficiency in Oman, the symposium is being conducted. In this, the major focus is made upon improving operational processes, fine-tuning regulatory frameworks and revisiting suggestions from past events.
More than 100 participants are expected to attend the symposium. This shall also include representatives from government agencies and private companies involved in aluminium production, scrap collection, recycling and industrial waste management.

The programme will be showcasing different technical papers, presentations of recent studies and conducting engaging panel discussions. The panel discussion will feature experts and representatives from top industry organisations, including the Gulf Aluminium Council.
The panel discussion will cover topics including global trends and challenges concerning the recycling sector. Additionally, the discussion will also revolve around opportunities to boost local value addition and investment, especially for small and medium enterprises and share best practices in sustainability, safety and governance.

The CEO of Sohar Aluminium, Eng Said bin Mohammed Al Masoudi, noted that the symposium upholds the firm's dedication to creating a collaborative space for stakeholders in both the aluminium and environmental sectors. Moreover, he stated that the symposium will facilitate knowledge and spark conversations about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the industry.
Additionally, the CEO also stated that this event aims at enhancing aluminium scrap management practices and promoting sustainable methods to boost recycling efficiency. This effort is also deemed to align with Oman’s shift towards a circular economy.
With that, he also pointed out that the firm, in the current scenario, is adapting with initiatives for improving recycling efforts, playing a vital role in the nation’s ambitions to reduce carbon emissions and meet net-zero targets, whilst adhering to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
