Odisha government plans new clusters for downstream industries

Chief Secretary GC Pati, who reviewed the progress of major industrial clusters including Aluminium Park at Angul and Petrochemical complex at Paradip here at a high level meeting, advised the department to identify new clusters for downstream industries along the railway line to Dhamra.
The departments of Revenue and Disaster Management and Industries have been asked to work out a system for land pooling by making the land owner a stakeholder in the new industrial clusters with an assured return like land rent for faster development of the projects.
Pati further directed that the process of identifying the anchor investor be expedited for each cluster.
Industrial clusters like Aluminium Park at Angul, Plastic Park at Paradip, Sea Food Park at Deras, Electronics park at Info-Valley, Bhubaneswar, Textile and Rice Park at Bhadrak, Petrochemical complex at Paradip and National Investment and Manufacturing Zone at Kalinganagar were reviewed at the meeting.
Administrative issues relating to the implementation of Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR)-2015, functioning of State facilitation centre and district facilitation centre were also discussed, official sources said.
The Aluminium Park at Angul is being developed jointly by Nalco and State-owned Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco). About 160 acre land has been acquired at Angul for the purpose of setting up the proposed Aluminium Park, sources in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department said.
The proposed park is being developed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) named Angul Aluminium Park Private Ltd (AAPPL) with shareholding of 50.50 per cent and 49.50 per cent between Idco and Nalco respectively. Industries using aluminium conductors, extrusions, castings, foils, powder and paste can be set up at the park.
