Nothing has always been about making the ordinary feel extraordinary—and its latest teaser proves just that. The upcoming Ear (3) is not just another set of wireless earbuds, but a statement piece that blends transparent minimalism with a sleek new aluminium finish. With an official reveal set for September 18, 2025, fans are already buzzing about what’s to come.
Bye-bye plastic
At first glance, the Ear (3) stays true to the transparent aesthetic that has become Nothing’s hallmark. The earbuds themselves closely resemble their Ear (2) predecessors, but the charging case has undergone a dramatic evolution. Out goes the all-plastic build of earlier generations, making way for recycled anodised aluminium. According to Nothing, this switch not only enhances durability but also delivers a premium metallic sheen, while reaffirming the brand’s push toward sustainable materials.

What is anodised aluminium? Anodised aluminium is created by treating aluminium through an electrochemical process that forms a tough, decorative, and corrosion-resistant layer of aluminium oxide on its surface. This naturally integrated layer is harder than raw aluminium, boosting its durability and resistance to wear without relying on paint or coatings that can flake or peel. The process also enables vibrant colouring options and, being fully recyclable, offers a sustainable way to extend aluminium’s lifespan.
The innovation continues
The Ear (3) introduces a redesigned metal antenna system, slimming down the profile without sacrificing connectivity. It’s a subtle but impactful balance of style meeting performance—a theme Nothing has leaned on since day one.
But the real showstoppers lie in the charging case itself. For the first time, it houses two new elements: a “Super Mic” and a dedicated talk button. While Nothing hasn’t revealed their full capabilities, early hints suggest exciting new ways to interact—whether it’s activating a voice assistant, handling calls directly from the case, or even using it as part of a wireless mic setup for content creators.
For now, Nothing is keeping the essentials under wraps—sound quality, battery life, and connectivity details remain a mystery. Social teasers have largely highlighted design, fuelling speculation and hype across the tech community.
