According to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), about 298,000 units of new energy vehicles (NEVs) were sold in China in the first three months of 2019, up 109.7 per cent from the same period last year.

Out of 298,000 units, pure electric cars accounted for 227,000 units, up 121.4 per cent year on year. Sales of plug-in hybrid rose 79.1 per cent to 72,000 units, showed the data of CAAM.
Overall sales of cars in China, on the other hand, dropped year-on-year by 11.3 per cent during January-March to come in at 6.37 million units.
However, the year-on-year drop in auto sales in March was much smaller compared with the declines in January and February. This indicates a sign of recovery in the market.
According to another update from Shanghai Metals Market, sales of heavy trucks in April declined 19 per cent month-on-month and 1 per cent year-on-year to stand at 121,000 units.
In April 2018, around 122,800 units of heavy trucks were sold, marking the highest April sales in history.
Average monthly sales during January-April 2019 had come in at 111,600 units, barely changed from 111,500 units in the same period last year.
