Metro Mining Ltd’s Managing Director Simon Finnis will talk expansion plans of Bauxite Hills Mine project with investors at the Proactive CEO Sessions in Sydney on Monday, April 8 and Melbourne on Tuesday, April 9. Simon Finnis will discuss how Metro Mining is transitioning to owner operator status at the project, Proactive Investors reported.

Metro Mining targets 3.5 wet metric tonnes (wmt) of production in 2019.
The company expects to recommence the production at the site as soon as wet season ends. The mining operations had ceased in late December 2018.
“The inclement weather hasn’t dampened the performance of our site maintenance and operations team, and I congratulate them and the support teams working in Cairns and Brisbane for their efforts. Everything is on track to achieve our 2019 Production Guidance of 3.5Mtpa of bauxite. We are looking forward to seeing the results of the updated DFS for the 6Mt expansion which, if approved, would represent a major step change in our Bauxite Hills operation,” Managing Director had announced in February.
The company plans to build significant stockpiles of screened and unscreened material prior to transhipping operations resume.
Metro Mining is also progressing well with refreshing the definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the stage II expansion to 6 million tonnes per annum, and expected to be delivered in the second quarter of this year.
