Mangels, a Brazilian maker of aluminium wheels, has finally entered the world of high speed as the official supplier of the Stock Car race, thanks to investments in new technology. The Brazilian company has created a series of Eco-Aluminium wheels in response to industrial needs that trend more and more towards sustainable transportation.
With a focus on the circular economy, the material used in the product is derived from a renewable source, recyclable aluminium, which contributes to environmental decarbonisation and the company's sustainability objectives. To fulfil motor racing needs, the corporation has built industrial procedures and invested in automation at the Três Coraçes (MG) unit in the previous two years, such as standardisation of mechanical components, manufacturing, and quality processes.
"The wheel cannot vary in weight and size, as this impacts on the competition. To overcome this challenge, we invested in the entire process and control of making wheels with robotic cells", said Elio Pereira da Silva, director of Engineering at the company.
Mangels officials anticipate that the company's knowledge gained from its relationship with conventional automotive modes will offer new avenues inside the category. Among the possibilities are the delivery of air tanks for heavy vehicles or off-road events in Brazil and Argentina, for example. The firm has a significant position in Mercosur in the domain of air cylinders for the automobile industry, but it is looking at ways to enhance exports.
