LME aluminium price hiked by $13/t this week to settle at $2027.50/t; SHFE closed range-bound at $2510/t

Benchmark aluminium price on the London Metal Exchange recorded a hike of 99 per cent during November 30-December 4.

LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price started the week on Monday, November 30, at US$ 2014.50 per tonne, soaring by US$ 39.50 per tonne from US$ 1975 per tonne on November 27. On Tuesday, December 1, the prices stood higher at US$ 2045.50 per tonne, which grew further to US$ 2051.50 per tonne on Wednesday, December 2. On Thursday, December 3, both LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price slipped $23.50 per tonne to peg at $2028 per tonne; however, stood almost flat at US$ 2027.50 per tonne to end the week on December 4.

3-months bid price and 3-months offer price stood at US$ 2022.50 per tonne on Monday and grew on Tuesday, December 1, by US$ 30 per tonne to settle at US$ 2052.50 per tonne. On Wednesday, the prices extended growth, although slower, by US$ 9.5 per tonne to come in at US 2062 per tonne. On Thursday, the prices decreased to US$ 2039.50 per tonne and remained almost flat on Friday, December 4, at US$ 2040 per tonne.

Dec 21 bid price and Dec 21 offer price also trended up through the week from US$ 2042.50 per tonne to US$ 2064.50 per tonne. Only on Thursday, December 3, the prices declined from US$ 2076.50 per tonne to US$ 2059 per tonne but rebounded on Friday, December 4, to US$ 2064.50 per tonne.

The LME aluminium opening stock decreased from 1374025 tonnes on Monday, November 30, to 1353350 tonnes on Friday, December 4.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE settled range-bound this week between US$ 2500 per tonne on November 30 and US$ 2510 per tonne on December 4. On Tuesday, December 1, the SHFE aluminium price stood at US$ 2555 per tonne and grew on Wednesday to US$ 2591 per tonne. On Thursday, December 3, the price declined to again US$ 2555 per tonne and further to US$ 2510 per tonne on Friday, December 4.
