Weekly update: Aluminium ingot price in China saw mixed performance this week; Alumina prices edged higher

SMM aluminium ingot price started the week higher. The price on Monday, 30 November stood at RMB 16770 per tonne, up RMB 440 per tonne from Friday. The price continued to perform higher till Wednesday. Aluminium ingot price ended the week lower at RMB 16610 per tonne on Friday, 4 December 20202020, from RMB 16850 per tonne on Thursday.

According to Shanghai Metals Market, primary aluminium ingot inventories continued to decline this week. Social inventories of primary aluminium ingots across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, increased 4,000 tonnes to 600,000 tonnes as of December 3.

The alumina price in China registered a growth on Tuesday and Wednesday. The price on Wednesday rose RMB4 per tonne from Tuesday. The alumina price is currently hovering at RMB 2292 per tonne as of Friday, 4 December 2020.

Other raw materials like Alumina (Imported), Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 2310 per tonne, USD 284.5 per tonne, RMB 3575 per tonne and RMB 8600 per tonne as of Friday, 4 December 2020 2020.

Aluminium Alloy (ADC12) price performed higher this week. The price on Tuesday and Wednesday stood at RMB 17100 and RMB 17400 per tonne. Alloy price remained unchanged on Thursday, 3 December. The price ended the week lower at RMB 17350 per tonne. The price is expected to move within a range of RMB 17250-17450 per tonne.
