
Three-month LME aluminium rose 2.82 per cent to close at US$ 2,277.50 per tonne on Friday. It is expected to fluctuate between US$ 2,190-2,220 per tonne today. LME aluminium stocks increased nearly 70,000 tonnes to 1.97 million tonnes. The contract is expected to fluctuate at US$ 2,200-2,270 per tonne in the near term.

LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price decreased for the second consecutive day on Friday, March 19, to stand at US$ 2188 per tonne. 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price stood at US$ 2223 per tonne, down by US$ 3.5 per tonne from US$ 2226.50 per tonne on March 18. Dec 22 bid price and Dec 22 offer price, however, increased from US$ 2250 per tonne on March 18 to US$ 2255 per tonne on March 19.
The LME aluminium opening stock soared by 69975 tonnes to stand at 1967275 tonnes as of Friday, March 19. Live Warrants totalled 1390625 tonnes, while Cancelled Warrants stood at 576650 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-months Asian Reference Price came in at US$ 2199 per tonne on March 19.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE edged 1.50 per cent higher to clock at US$ 2707 per tonne on Monday, March 22.
The most-liquid SHFE 2015 aluminium contract rose 1.32 per cent to settle at RMB 17,645 per tonne on Friday night, and is likely to fluctuate between RMB 17,300-17,700 per tonne today. The growth rate of social inventories of aluminium ingots slowed down and the inflection point is expected to appear soon. Spot prices kept a small discount.
