LME aluminium benchmark price trends down 3.67% W-o-W to US$2313/t; SHFE price declines by US$22/t overnight

Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$2,381 per tonne on Tuesday and closed at US$2,331 per tonne, down 2.1 per cent.

On Tuesday, April 25, the LME aluminium cash bid price plunged by US$42 per tonne to US$2,312 per tonne, and LME aluminium official settlement price declined by US$41.50 per tonne to peg at US$2,313 per tonne, marking the third consecutive day of fall.

The continuous downfall through the previous week has brought the LME aluminium benchmark price 3.67 per cent lower than US$2,401 per tonne on last Tuesday.

The 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price contracted by US$41 per tonne or 1.73 per cent to settle at US$2331.50 per tonne and US$2,332 per tonne. December 24 bid price and December 24 offer price shrank by US$35 per tonne to stand at US$2,505 per tonne and US$2,510 per tonne, respectively.

LME aluminium opening stock remained restrained at 569,600 tonnes. Live Warrants grew by 1,050 tonnes to 495,000 tonnes, while cancelled warrants decreased by 1,050 tonnes to 74,600 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price dropped US$6.73 per tonne, stopping at US$2,370.28 per tonne.

SHFE aluminium price

On Wednesday, April 26, the SHFE aluminium benchmark price recorded the fourth day of downfall by US$22 per tonne to stand at US$2,707 per tonne. 

The most-traded SHFE 2306 aluminium closed down 0.53 per cent or RMB 100 per tonne at RMB 18,800 per tonne, with open interest down 3,030 lots to 259,965 lots.

After opening at RMB 18,690 per tonne at yesterday’s night session, the most-traded SHFE 2306 aluminium contract rose initially to RMB 18,745 per tonne, but then fell back to RMB 18,610 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,650 per tonne, down RMB 150 per tonne or 0.8 per cent.
