
LME aluminium opened at US$2,977 per tonne last Friday and closed at US$2,987 per tonne, an increase of US$9.50 per tonne or 0.32 per cent.

On Friday, January 14, LME aluminium cash (bid) price closed at US$2,977 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price, on the other hand, settled at US$2,977.50 per tonne, following a decline of US$43 per tonne on the previous day to US$2,960 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price on Friday settled at US$2,978 per tonne and US$2,980 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price and December 22 offer price totalled at US$2,745 per tonne and US$2,750 per tonne.
LME aluminium opening stock registered at 891550 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants stood at 500550 tonnes and 391000 tonnes.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price came in at US$2,954.22 per tonne.
SHFE aluminium price
The benchmark aluminium price has opened the week on Monday, January 17, further lower at US$3,325 per tonne for the third day in a row.
The most-traded SHFE 2202 aluminium closed down 1.97 per cent or RMB 425 per tonne to RMB 21,160 per tonne, with open interest down 17900 lots to 154949 lots.
During last Friday’s night session, the most-traded SHFE aluminium contract opened at RMB 21,230 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 21,260 per tonne and RMB 20,870 per tonne before closing at RMB 21,005 per tonne, down RMB 225 per tonne or 1.06 per cent.
