LME aluminium benchmark price dumps US$17/t with M-o-M hike of 2.75%; SHFE aluminium price sheds US$10/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,241.50 per tonne on Monday, with its high and low at US$2,241.50 per tonne and US$2,121.20 per tonne respectively before closing at US$2,234 per tonne, a decrease of US$17 per tonne or 0.76 per cent.

On September 25, the LME aluminium live price chart witnessed downstream trend, with the LME aluminium cash bid price and the LME aluminium official price dropping US$17 per tonne or 0.77 per cent to officially close at US$2,182 per tonne and US$2,182.50 per tonne. If the LME aluminium price on August 25 is taken into account then we find a Month-on-Month increase of US$58.50 per tonne or 2.75 per cent in the official price.

London Metal Exchange graph flaunted that the 3-month bid price and the 3-month offer price have both crunched by US$15 per tonne or 0.67 per cent to stop at US$2,224 per tonne and US$2,225 per tonne.

The December 24 bid price and the December 24 official price have slumped by US$20 per tonne or 0.84 per cent, settling at US$2,358 per tonne and US$2,363 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock recorded a massive upward trail of 14,250 tonnes or2.95 per cent to finally settle at 496,550 tonnes. Live warrants stood at 221,650 tonnes, with a huge escalation of 16,975 tonnes or 8.29 per cent. On the other hand, cancelled warrants shed 2,725 tonnes or 0.98 per cent to anchor at 274,900 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price halted at US$2,232.05 per tonne, down US$2.56 per tonne or 0.11 per cent.

SHFE aluminium price

Today, on September 26, the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) aluminium benchmark price has suffered a loss of US$10 per tonne or 0.37 per cent to settle at US$2,675 per tonne.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2311 aluminium contract opened at RMB 19,325 per tonne, with its lowest and highest at RMB 19,295 per tonne and RMB 19,295 per tonne before closing at RMB 19,350 per tonne, down RMB 45 per tonne or 0.23 per cent compared with the previous trading day.

SHFE 2307 aluminium added RMB 595 per tonne or 3.38 per cent to RMB 18,185 per tonne. The open interest fell 11,785 lots to 256,640 lots.
