Private equity house LDC has completed its re-investment in MB Aerospace, alongside Arlington Capital Partners in support of MB’s acquisition of Delta Industries. The deal enables MB to consolidate its position in the aero engine precision components market.

Headquartered in Motherwell and with operations in Derby, Detroit and Burnley, MB is an international aerospace engineering group supplying into the aero engine and industrial gas turbine sectors.

Based in Hartford, Connecticut, Delta is a leading provider of highly engineered components for the commercial and military aero engine and industrial gas turbine markets. Once Delta has been incorporated into the MB group, the newly-expanded business will boast revenues of more than £104m ($160m) and 550 employees.

The combined customer base will include blue-chip aerospace, defence and industrial OEMs such as Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, General Electric, Boeing, United Technologies and GKN.

The deal with Delta fully complements MB’s UK operations and its US operation in Detroit, providing the business with a much larger and well-established operational presence in the US from which to extend its existing capabilities.

The Delta deal is seen as just the first in a planned series of acquisitions by MB going forward.

The deal with MB Aerospace forms part of LDC’s continuing strategy of investing in leading mid-market businesses and represents the firm’s ninth new investment of 2013 having invested over £160m of new funding, together with further £40m of capital to support portfolio business acquisitions.
