Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (Nasdaq:KALU - News) today reported net income of $5 million or $0.24 earnings per diluted share for the second quarter 2011 compared sequentially to $11 million, or $0.59 per diluted share for the first quarter 2011 and $0 million or $0.01 earnings per diluted share for the prior year second quarter. Excluding the impact of non-run-rate items, adjusted net income and earnings per diluted share were $12 million and $0.63 for the second quarter 2011, a sequential improvement from adjusted net income and earnings per diluted share of $8 million and $0.42 in the first quarter of 2011 and slightly lower than $13 million and $0.68 in the prior year quarter.
