With stricter emissions regulations and growing electrification, lightweight materials are becoming central to vehicle design. Aluminium plays a key role by reducing vehicle weight, improving fuel efficiency, extending electric vehicle range, and supporting circular manufacturing through recyclability.
“Aluminium is critical in enabling lighter, more energy-efficient and circular vehicles. Leveraging our leadership in low-carbon production and advanced material solutions, we are proud to contribute to innovation that will shape the future of the automotive industry, while at the same time supporting global OEMs in meeting ambitious sustainability and performance targets,” says Paul Warton, Executive Vice President of Hydro Extrusions.
By joining Alumobility, Hydro brings deep expertise across the full aluminium lifecycle, from primary production and alloy development to extrusions, components, and recycling. This strengthens Alumobility’s technical knowledge base, which already provides in-depth case studies demonstrating how aluminium enables lighter, safer, and more sustainable vehicles.
“We are delighted to welcome Hydro to Alumobility. Their deep expertise across the aluminium value chain and leadership in low-carbon, circular approaches bring tremendous value to our association. With Hydro’s participation, we can further enrich this knowledge base and continue to demonstrate aluminium’s critical role in shaping the future of mobility, says Martin Norden, President of Alumobility.
Beyond advocacy, the collaboration focuses on practical education for OEMs, helping engineers redesign vehicle architectures around lightweight aluminium solutions.
