HSP 4 x 4 Accessories, an Australian automotive company based in Victoria, has grown to become a global leader in designing and manufacturing solutions that improve the functionality of utility vehicles.

HSP's business is built on innovation to create and distribute masterfully designed products that make vehicle users' lives easier. The ground-breaking products of the company, which include the best-selling Electric Roll R Cover, Silverback Lid, and Tailgate Lock, are frequently world-first.
HSP is 100% Australian-owned and manufactures and gets all of its materials locally. Brothers Massih and Masood Aimaq and long-time friend Omer Dost have transformed HSP from a start-up into a world leader since 2007.
Massih Aimaq, the Sales Director, is modest about HSP's success but admits it feels incredible. He says, "But what is even better is that we have achieved our goal of designing and manufacturing in Australia while most of our competitors have gone overseas."
"We needed to do everything in Australia because we have control over our products from thinking of them to installing them on the utes of users. We could blow our catalogue out and produce hundreds of products overseas to maximise profits. Instead, we design and manufacture bespoke products in Australia that improve how people interact with their vehicles."
Incorporating technologies from industries other than automotive into cars is a hallmark of HSP's innovation.
"I think that's why our products are much more forward-looking than some of our competitors and why we create products that other people haven't thought of,” he added.
The Electric Roll R cover from HSP is among the best illustrations of its strategy. As the first company to market a fully electric roller shutter for utes, HSP invented the electric roller cover. The Roll R is the most cutting-edge retractable ute cover in the world. Users can operate its proprietary features with the vehicle's factory remote or a mobile app, and they are compatible with factory sports bars, ladder racks, and crossbars. The cover is also less expensive than imported products with less functionality.
Massih said, "It is the most technologically advanced ute roll top in the world; no other model has a touchpad, cell phone connectivity, over-the-air Wi-Fi upgrades, or compatibility with your factory remote. These items are seen in technological firms rather than in car accessories."
The workforce at HSP, its location in Victoria, and its policy to only employ materials obtained from Australia have all contributed to its success. HSP has engaged a qualified workforce which firmly believes in the company's goals rather than hiring staff from external agencies or outsourcing engineer services. They want to maintain Australian manufacturing while setting the bar for new product development.
Massih emphasized, “Everyone believes in our mission, and that gives us all the drive to design, build and improve our products.”
A crucial component of HSP's team is its family of distributors; in addition to Australia, the company has 300 distributors spread out over Europe, South America, NZ, and other nations. Additionally, it just received a tier-one worldwide contract.
In addition to a factory in regional Victoria's Alexandra, where HSP started its operations, the company also has a larger, purpose-built production facility there.
“We manufacture our Roll R cover at the new facility and do our aluminium extrusions work there. Our Alexandra workforce has a lot of specific skills; we have precision machinery there, creating new skill sets. Our people there are great workers, and we are delighted to have them as part of our journey,” Missah said.
Massih stated, "Regarding materials, we couldn’t make our products without aluminium. Aluminium makes a lot of sense. When you look at a ute cover, you need to keep your items dry and secure under something that looks good. Aluminium is the best material to do all of that. It’s lightweight, durable, extrudable and has no limits in manufacturing.”
“We couldn’t make our products without aluminium. If we did, they wouldn’t be anything we would want to sell. Without aluminium, our products might not exist.”
“HSP’s supply partnership with Capral has helped them on their journey to global leadership”, Massih added.
“In creating world-firsts, we can’t use anything off the shelf – our products must stand out for their functionality and looks. Everything we design is specific to a particular product, and Capral accommodates our needs and offers quality, reliability, and quantity. There are a lot of synergies between us – they are a high-quality manufacturer that believes in manufacturing in Australia.”
In order to streamline HSP's manufacturing process, Capral extrudes and powder coats all of the aluminium used in fabrication. Capral can provide HSP with the finest quality aluminium for its projects using Interpon's industry-leading powder coat finishes, removing the need for HSP to acquire finishing from a secondary supplier.

“Having access to powder-coated aluminium supplied to our door is important. It reduces our lead times, minimises the risk of damage to the material and ensures we have consistent quality finishes on our products every time. We use the Textura black finish, which is very modern, looks great but has anti-marring properties and reduces the risk of scratches and marks on the painted extrusion.”
Massih concluded by saying, “Capral is more of a partner than just a supplier to HSP. They understand where we’re trying to go and help us validate what we’re trying to achieve, advising whether things are possible. We are proud of our partnership with Capral and grateful for their ongoing support.”
