Post expansion alumina refining capacity will be around 6 million-tonne.
Hindalco Industries (Hindalco) held its 52 Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on 23 September 2011. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, addressed the meet.
The construction of the 1.5 million Utkal alumina refinery, along with a 90 MW captive co-generation plant is in progress at UAIL, a 100% subsidiary of the Company. The output from UAIL would be sufficient to feed alumina to the Mahan and the Aditya Smelters. The project is expected to commission in 2012.
The Company is setting up smelters and two new Alumina Refineries in the states of Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. With these projects on stream,alumina refining capacity will be around 6 million-tonne.
Of these Greenfield projects,Utkal Alumina [UAIL] is at an advanced stage of execution. The equity for the projects has been financed by internal accruals and QIP issuance in Nov '09.
