A Dutch shipbuilding company Heesen Yachts reportedly announced that it began the construction of a new 50-metre yacht named Aquamarine (YN 18950), a new addition to its Aluminium Class of yachts. According to the shipyard, the yacht is expected to be ready for delivery by January 2021.

For this new model, Heesen has developed a new hull together with the hydrodynamic gurus at Van Oossanen Naval Architects. A raised transom shape and propeller tunnels have been incorporated into the design to optimise performance while reducing the vessel’s draft to a mere 2.15 metres; ideal for island hopping in the Bahamas and exploring uncharted bays in the Mediterranean.
Aquamarine is an all-aluminium motor yacht that not only features a fresh design style by Omega Architects and Heesen’s characteristic performance capabilities but also boasts an eco-friendly power plant and onboard system. This makes the yacht the first fast-cruising sub-500 GT motor yacht that is Tier III compliant, according to the builder.
Besides, Aquamarine will have MTU’s new 16V 4000 M65L engines that operate together with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to reduce Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.
The interior of the yacht is designed by Cristiano Gatto, who has infused a Japanese-inspired theme into the luxury guest areas. The yacht can accommodate total12 guests in one grand master stateroom on the main deck and four spacious guest suites on the lower deck.
Designer Frank Laupman comments on the design style of Aquamarine and how this model fits in with Heesen’s existing lineup: “The design we created for the new 5000 Aluminium Class combines our own heritage with that of Heesen as a builder of elegant and sporty aluminium motor yachts. The ‘integrated hull and body design’, which was first seen on the iconic 65-metre Galactica Star, gives a strong character to the yacht’s profile."
