In a bid to mitigate the environmental damage caused by the booming bottled water industry, Australian entrepreneurs Giovanni Testini and Jason Haggar introduced Vessel, Australia's first 750ml endlessly recyclable aluminium water bottle. The bottle has two options: Vessel Still (alkaline) and Vessel Sparkling.
The creators, while working on their company concept, were inspired by a passing freight ship (thus the name "Vessel"), and they felt that the name "encapsulated their mission" to reduce the usage of disposable plastic water bottles. Aluminium bottles are endlessly recyclable, long-lasting, lightweight, airtight, and shatterproof.
The business claims the aluminium bottles can be repurposed and restocked in as little as 30–60 days due to its high recycling yields and fast recycling procedure. Cans, bicycles, and basketball hoops may be made from the material after recycling. More than 1,500 Coles, Foodland, Harris Farm, Romeos, and Woolworths locations throughout the country now carry the brand since its introduction.
Aluminium is one of the most sustainable and recyclable materials on the earth. Recycling aluminium serves current and future generations by preserving energy and other natural resources. As per the AL Circle's Outlook report, global aluminium use in packaging applications was predicted to be 14.7 million tonnes in 2022 and is forecasted to reach 15.2 million tonnes by 2023, a 3.3% increase. Beverage cans, packaging foil, and pharmaceutical packaging uses drove aluminium demand in this area.
