
Germany’s aluminium container export witnessed a drop in both volume and value in 2018 after an increase in 2017. Export from Germany declined 37 per cent year-on-year last year, according to recent estimates. Aluminium containers are used for packaging of several commercial commodities and are non-toxic, odourless and moisture resistant.
According to recent estimates, Germany’s export of aluminium containers has been fluctuating for the last three years. Export of aluminium containers decreased from 3464 tonnes to 2186 tonnes in 2018. This indicates a drop of 37 per cent year-on-year. The revenue from the export came in at USD17 million in 2018, down from USD39 million in 2017.

Global trade data suggests that the country’s export of this product will see a growth in 2019. The expected growth is estimated to be around 19 per cent. Export of aluminium containers from Germany is estimated to stand at 2607 tonnes this year. The country is estimated to export aluminium containers worth USD21 million.

The top importers who have been procuring aluminium containers from Germany include the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Russia, and Poland among others.
