GEKA and AXILONE combine aluminium and moulding technology for luxury beauty packaging

The Symbiosis concept pairs a premium aluminium outer shell with a transparent inner bottle, while the partners highlight low-carbon aluminium and future sustainability development.

GEKA and AXILONE have partnered to introduce Symbiosis, a luxury beauty packaging concept combining GEKA’s injection blow-moulding technology with AXILONE’s expertise in premium aluminium packaging. The concept will be showcased at Luxe Pack Monaco, presenting a design that brings together a premium aluminium outer shell and a see-through inner bottle.

The inner bottle’s transparent windows allow consumers to view the formulation’s colour and texture, adding a sensory element to the packaging. The combination is designed to offer beauty brands a distinctive appearance alongside a tactile product experience.

Aluminium shell offers design flexibility

Symbiosis combines GEKA’s injection blow-moulding technology, which the company says is protected by intellectual property, with AXILONE’s premium aluminium packaging capabilities.

The outer shell’s cutout shape and range of finishes provide design flexibility, while the visible inner bottle allows the formulation itself to become part of the package’s presentation. The partners say the concept can be customised through different colours, finishes, textures and decoration options.

Available choices include matte, glossy and brushed surfaces, along with transparent or coloured inner bottles. Decoration options include flat, embossed and debossed effects, giving brands several ways to tailor the packaging to their products.

The concept also uses low-carbon aluminium, which the partners present as part of their effort to combine creative packaging design with sustainability considerations. The announcement does not provide a carbon footprint or recycled-content figure for the material.

Next-generation concept planned for 2027

The collaboration brings together GEKA’s application technology and AXILONE’s aluminium packaging expertise to develop a packaging concept for prestige beauty brands. The companies say Symbiosis is intended to combine design, functionality and sensory appeal.

Visitors to Luxe Pack Monaco will be able to see the concept and explore its customisation options.

GEKA is also developing a next-generation Symbiosis concept with a stronger sustainability focus. The company plans to unveil it at Cosmopack Bologna 2027.
