From Reliable power to real impact: Vedanta power highlights scale, sustainability & livelihood transformation at Bharat Electricity Summit 2026

Vedanta Power, one of India’s leading private power companies, made a strong impact at the inaugural Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Power. Showcasing its scale of operations alongside sustainability-led innovations, the company at its booth demonstrated how reliable power generation and responsible practices can go hand in hand. It also underlined its focus on efficiency, technology-driven operations, and community-centric initiatives as it scales to meet India’s growing energy demand.

The company’s pavilion at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik. During his visit, he reviewed Vedanta Power’s initiatives across responsible energy generation and biomass-led circular solutions, and engaged directly with beneficiaries of its CSR programmes, witnessing the on-ground impact firsthand.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO – Power, Vedanta Ltd., said, “India’s power sector is at an inflexion point, with electricity demand expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.41 per cent from 2026 to 2035. As per the CEA Generation Adequacy Study, the projected installed capacity will increase from 520 GW to 1,121 GW by 2035. This growth will be driven primarily by data centres, electric vehicles, and industrial expansion. As demand rises with urbanisation, industrialisation, and digitalisation, the key challenge will be the absorption of intermittent renewables through modernising and strengthening the grid, while enhancing efficiency, reliability, and energy security alongside advancing climate goals.”

He further added, “As per the Ministry of Power, the sector will require investments of over INR 203 lakh crore over the next two decades, reflecting the scale of transformation across generation, transmission, distribution, and energy storage. At BES 2026, the Ministry of Power is actively engaging with industry and experts to ease policies and attract private investment to meet this targeted growth. For Vedanta Power, this presents a significant opportunity for future growth, aligned with India’s power generation trajectory. We have nearly doubled our operational capacity from 2,580 MW to over 4,100 MW within a year, and are nearing full commissioning of our 4,780 MW portfolio, while continuing to deliver reliable and responsible power.”

At the summit, Vedanta Power brought its operational journey and innovations to life through a series of technology-led, interactive experiences, with digital installations tracing its evolution from a single asset to a multi-plant portfolio, while enabling visitors to engage with technology-driven aspects of power generation firsthand. A key attraction was the kinetic energy pad, where footsteps were converted into small bursts of power in real time, demonstrating the fundamentals of energy conversion.

The company also presented an immersive, tractor-led Virtual Reality (VR) experience that demonstrated the transformation it has driven in Punjab by converting stubble into clean energy, drawing strong public interest. The VR film highlighted the role of Vedanta Power's Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) in building an end-to-end ecosystem- driving farmer awareness, enabling stubble procurement, and converting crop residue into biomass at Punjab’s largest torrefied bio-pellet plant. This initiative has led to an estimated 87 per cent reduction in farm fires over the past two years and prevented stubble burning across more than 28,000 acres in the region.

Vedanta Power also spotlighted its flagship sustainable farming initiative, Navi Disha, along with the skill enhancement programme Project TARA, showcasing locally crafted products and reinforcing its focus on livelihood creation and rural entrepreneurship. The company brought its CSR interventions across rural infrastructure, healthcare, and livelihoods to life through beneficiary families from Raipur village, Mansa, including Guljinder Singh, Gurmeet Kaur, and Veerpal Kaur, who demonstrated how value-added products such as jaggery, honey, spices, wheat flour, and pickles are generating sustainable incomes and transforming rural livelihoods.

Another engaging feature at the booth was V-Shakti, Vedanta Power’s mascot, showcased through a tech-enabled hologram-tube installation, aimed at promoting responsible power generation and addressing misconceptions around thermal power.

Vedanta Power said its participation in the summit reflects its strategy to combine scale, technology, and community-led interventions, aligning with India’s evolving power demand.
