Embraer, the Brazil-based aerospace industry leader and Hindalco, a leading global aluminium producer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the possibility of sourcing aerospace-grade aluminium from India. This new agreement builds on the firm’s existing supply partnership with Novelis, which is Hindalco’s US-based subsidiary and aligns with the company’s goal of expanding and diversifying its supply chains.
{alcircleadd}As per the MoU signed by both firms, they will be exploring the possibility of producing aerospace-grade aluminium raw materials in India. The aircraft company affirmed the initiative to focus on upholding industrial plans in the country and align with the Indian government's "Make in India" programme.
Aircraft made by the firm have been flown by airlines, corporate clients and air forces. The firm has its manufacturing plants in both Brazil and the US and plans to expand its manufacturing and supply chain presence. Owing to this initiative, an MoU was signed with the Adani and Mahindra groups to explore the possibility of producing commercial and military aircraft in India.

Roberto Chaves, the Executive Vice President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain, Embraer, stated, “This joint action reinforces our focus on identifying local partners that can become our suppliers and, in doing so, accelerate the development of the Indian industrial base.”
He further added, “The initiative enhances Embraer’s engagement in advancing the aerospace ecosystem in India, creating long-term value across the entire supply chain.”
People at the aircraft firm believe that India is a country that represents a strategic market, enabling business possibilities for all of its units. At present, the firm holds a total of 47 aircraft, which are operating within the country, spanning across commercial aviation, defence and executive aviation.

Out of the 47 aircraft by the firm, five of them are VIP jets, which are operated by the Indian government, as well as three EMB-145 AEW “Netra” aircraft that are currently in service with the Indian Air Force. The rest of the aircraft are dedicated to serving commercial and executive aviation clients.
On Thursday, Embraer and Mahindra Aerospace announced their plans to set up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in India for the C-390 Millennium medium transport aircraft. This initiative is contingent upon the Indian Air Force choosing the platform as part of the Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme.
Last year, Embraer and Novelis struck a multi-year deal to supply aluminium plates, sheets and an increasing amount of pre-cut shapes, which are used in the firm’s aircraft programs.
