Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has won two gold awards at the 2019 Ideas Arabia competition for employees’ suggestions. The Ideas Arabia competition encourages employee engagement in continuous improvement of a company through suggestion schemes, and rewards creative and original ideas.
EGA winning entry included a safety suggestion developed by EGA employees Leyson Ecuacion, Reynaldo Subong, Gereliv Magale, Jayaprakash Rajagopaland and Rolando Milloria. The suggestion eliminated a potential fire risk through equipment modifications.

Another winning idea was suggested by Ravindrakumar Shinde, Rajesh Chenolil, Melchor Gella, Satish Rajput and Balakrishnan K.P. for designing and building a robotic cleaning machine for pipes, eliminating the need for removal before cleaning.
Both these suggestions helped EGA in saving time as well as in reduction of waste products.
Abdulla Kalban, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at EGA, said: “Over the years, our globally recognised employee suggestion scheme has resulted in successfully implemented and impactful suggestions across the company. Through encouraging employees from all levels to contribute to our culture of continuous innovation, we have created further value and efficiencies in our operations.”
It is noteworthy that EGA has been operating an employee suggestion scheme since 1981, receiving about 500,000 suggestions for operational and technical improvements from employees. Out of this, 270,000 have been implemented by EGA leading to savings of AED 366 million. In 2018, EGA saved AED 50 million through record 38,037 suggestions from EGA employees and in 2019, AED 24.8 million have been saved so far.
EGA has been participating in Ideas Arabia since 2006 and won two gold awards during last year’s event.
