Dubai Municipality presents Green Industry Award 2013 to Gulf Extrusions

Gulf Extrusions, a leading global manufacturer of extruded aluminum products, has announced that it has received the Green Industry Award 2013 from Dubai Municipality in recognition of the company's exemplary environmental achievements over the past years.

The award, which was presented to Gulf Extrusions in the large industry category, specifically recognised its high-impact environmental efforts, following Dubai Municipality's thorough assessment of the company's Environment Management System and waste management practices.

Modar Al Mekdad, General Manager of Gulf Extrusions, received the award from Engineer Hamdan Al Shaer, Director of Environment Department at Dubai Municipality, during an award ceremony held recently at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai.

Commenting on the award, Al Mekdad said, "In recent years, Gulf Extrusions has initiated a range of environment-friendly programs in line with our broader corporate social responsibility agenda and commitment to sustainable development practices. This recognition from Dubai Municipality validates our genuine efforts to protect natural resources and reduce our carbon footprint, with the underlining goal of making our environment cleaner and greener. The award also inspires us to continue investing in latest technologies that can result in significant environmental benefits on the long term."

Last year, Gulf Extrusions received the inaugural Gulf Aluminium Council Environmental Awards 2012 under the Downstream Aluminium Companies category, in recognition of the company's focus on innovation and leadership to achieve sustainable environmental performance and for lowering stack emissions. The company has also been focusing heavily on reducing waste through recycling, while also increasing greenery around its factory in Dubai.
