Germany and France share one of Europe’s busiest downstream aluminium corridors, and the metal flows in both directions. In the first seven months of 2026, aluminium flat rolled products (FRP), which cover aluminium plates, sheets and strips (HS code: 7606), as well as aluminium foil (HS code: 7607), crossed the border each way, amounting to a total of around USD 692 million. However, the bilateral trade flow is tilted towards Germany, which remains France’s largest FRP supplier. Nonetheless, the inter-dependence remains as the countries do exchange the same products but engage in cross-border trade of specialised high-value products and alloys, feeding the demand on either side. The trade figures for January–July 2026, as compiled from the International Trade Administration, highlight...

The Aluminum Association has released the 2012 edition of the Standard Test Procedure for Aluminum Alloy Grain Refiners popularly known as TP-1. The test procedures described in the publication are used to determine the ability of grain refiners to reduce grain size during solidification of aluminum alloys under standardized conditions, and for examining the structure of the grain refiner for uniformity. It has been reissued after a joint Task Group of the Aluminum Association’s Master Alloys and Additives Division and the Technical Committee on Product Standards completed a round robin to evaluate the procedure described in TP-1. A separate report of the findings of the Task Group Report on the Interpretation of the Precision and Accuracy of the TP-1 Test When Multiple Laboratories...

Alcoa today released the findings of a peer-reviewed life cycle assessment (LCA) which concludes that Alcoa aluminum wheels substantially cut the carbon footprint of commercial vehicles. In North America, the study found that substituting 18 conventional steel truck wheels with Alcoa aluminum wheels cut carbon emissions by 16.3 metric tons over the lifetime of the wheels. In Europe, replacing 12 steel wheels with aluminum cut 13.3 metric tons of carbon emissions. In addition, the study found that the use of Alcoa forged aluminum wheels over steel wheels can be viewed as an active and highly efficient investment into the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the commercial vehicle sector. "As commercial vehicles face stricter regulations around reducing carbon emissions, this life cycle...

Aluminum profile is a kind of aluminum extrusion materials, seen from the product output structure, it accounts for nearly 50% of the aluminum processing materials. Currently, China is the world's largest aluminum profile producer and consumer. During the period 2001-2008, its aluminum profile production grew at a CAGR of 25.16%, towering over the national economic growth rate over the corresponding period. In 2011, the production and consumption severally reached around 11.5 million tons and 10.8 million tons, up 15.0% and 11.3% YoY respectively. Although China is the world's largest aluminum profile producer, compared with counterparts in Europe and the United States, Chinese aluminum profile enterprises are generally of small size, with low industrial concentration. Major manufacturers...

Alloc revolutionized the floor industry in 1996, when the company introduced a locking system that made it possible to lay floors without using glue. Alloc has now developed a system that provides greater precision and locking effect, and which greatly simplifies installation. The heart of the system is locking clips or fasteners made from aluminium extrusions. Long-term agreement The new development and delivery agreement makes Hydro Aluminium Profiler the sole supplier to Alloc of nearly 75 million clips over the next five years. The agreement was signed at Alloc's head office in Lyngdal, Norway, in the presence of key staff members from both companies, led by Alloc's operations manager Patric Van Ackere and marketing manager Atle Larsen of Hydro Aluminium Profiler. The festive season, one of the peak times for utensil manufacturers, is a few months away, but manufacturers in the Haryana town of Jagadhri are a concerned lot. Bharat Garg, former president, Federation of All India Aluminum Utensil Manufac-turers Association, says that the sale of aluminum utensils has been affected of late on account of price revision. Since the last two weeks, prices of aluminum utensils have been revised by 15-20 per cent, which has had an adverse impact on sales. The revision in prices of utensils has been necessitated following a rise in the price of the base metal, aluminium. Garg said the worrying aspect was that the prices of aluminum as per the London Metal Exchange (LME) has moved up by 10 per cent in last three weeks, but in the domestic market the prices has...

The foreign-made cars in the parking lot offer one hint how Bodine Aluminum differs from the remainder of a regional automobile manufacturing sector once dominated by Big Three domestic production. Other clues, less evident, include the absence of layoffs at Bodine during the recession, an unprecedented car recall, rising fuel prices and a historic natural disaster that crippled it’s sole customer, Toyota Motor Corp. Through it all, Bodine Aluminum kept plugging away at sites in Troy, St. Louis County and Jackson, Tenn. — where the company cranks out engine blocks that power nearly every Toyota model manufactured in North America. (The Prius hybrid and mid-size Tacoma truck are the exceptions.) “We tend to be low key,” acknowledged Terry Henderson, general manager for administration at...
