China’s alumina price opens the month of August with a rise of RMB4/t; A00 aluminium ingot price heightens to RMB18580/t

The domestic average alumina spot price in China has recorded an increase of RMB 4 per tonne on Tuesday, August 1, to reach RMB 2,876 per tonne, found the Shanghai Metals Market data. Throughout the previous month, the price trended up by RMB 54 per tonne to close at RMB 2,872 per tonne. With the further rise today, China’s alumina spot price stands at RMB 58 per tonne month-on-month higher and RMB 24 per tonne than a week ago.

In Shanxi, alumina price has expanded by RMB 10 per tonne to RMB 2,890 per tonne, and that in Shandong, Guizhou, and Guangxi has grown by RMB 5 per tonne to RMB 2,830 per tonne, RMB 2,870 per tonne, and RMB 2,875 per tonne, respectively.

However, the Australian alumina FOB price has remained restrained at US$331 per tonne as of Tuesday, August 1.

A00 aluminium ingot price has heightened by RMB 200 per tonne on August 1 to reach RMB 18,580 per tonne, learned SMM. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 18,560 per tonne and RMB 18,600 per tonne, with a spot contract to be traded at a discount price of RMB 40 per tonne.

In Foshan and Chongqing, A00 aluminium ingot price has escalated by RMB 210 per tonne to settle at RMB 18,600 per tonne and RMB 18,590 per tonne, respectively, followed by the hike of RMB 190 per tonne in Wuxi and Hanzhou to RMB 18,560 per tonne. In Shenyang and Tianjin, the primary aluminium ingot price has gained RMB 180 per tonne and RMB 170 per tonne to clock at RMB 18,520 per tonne and RMB 18,530 per tonne, and that in Gongyi and Linyi has increased by RMB 160 per tonne and RMB 150 per tonne to rest at RMB 18,480 per tonne and RMB 18,580 per tonne.

In line with the increase in A00 aluminium ingot price, aluminium alloys prices have trended up across China. According to SMM, aluminium alloy (A356) price has hiked by RMB 200 per tonne to stand at RMB 19,200 per tonne, with average prices likely to range between RMB 19,000 per tonne and RMB 19,400 per tonne.

Aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have increased by RMB 150 per tonne to settle at RMB 18,950 per tonne and RMB 19,950 per tonne, respectively.
