China’s alumina price continues declining by RMB6/t, impacting aluminium ingot price; Aluminium fluoride price tumbles RMB200/t

According to the Shanghai Metals Market survey, the average aluminium spot price in China has further decreased over the weekend by RMB 6 per tonne to start the week at RMB 3,342 per tonne, as of Monday, March 4.

In Shandong and Shanxi, the alumina spot price has declined by RMB 10 per tonne to stand RMB 3,255 per tonne and RMB 3,355 per tonne, with average prices to range between RMB 3,210-3,300 per tonne and RMB 3,310-3,400 per tonne, respectively. In Henan, the price has dropped by RMB 5 per tonne to RMB 3,375 per tonne, with average prices to hover around RMB 3,330-3,420 per tonne.

Aluminium fluoride and bauxite prices

Among other primary aluminium input costs, aluminium fluoride price, on the other hand, has hiked by RMB 200 per tonne to RMB 9,150 per tonne, after remaining restrained through the previous month. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 8,800-9,500 per tonne, found SMM.

China’s imported bauxite price has dipped by US$0.07 per tonne on the same day to stand at US$70.08 per tonne. However, the domestic bauxite price remained restrained at RMB 620 per tonne.

A00 aluminium ingot price

In tandem with the average alumina price fall, A00 aluminium ingot price has dropped by RMB 20 per tonne, settling at RMB 18,940 per tonne on March 4, 2024. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 18,920 per tonne and RMB 18,960 per tonne, with spot contract to be traded at a discount price of RMB 40 per tonne and a premium price of RMB 0 per tonne.

In Chongqing, the ingot price has descended by RMB 40 per tonne to RMB 18,900 per tonne, followed by the downfall of RMB 30 per tonne in Foshan and Shenyang to stand unanimously at RMB 18,930 per tonne on March 4. In Hangzhou, A00 aluminium ingot price has shrunk by RMB 20 per tonne to RMB 18,940 per tonne, while the price in Gongyi and Wuxi has dipped by RMB 10 per tonne to RMB 18,840 per tonne and RMB 18,940 per tonne.

The domestic low-carbon aluminium price has shed off RMB 50 per tonne to close at RMB 19,759 per tonne as of March 4.

Aluminium alloy prices

Aluminium alloy prices, on the, other hand, have built up across China, showed SMM. Aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have increased by RMB 50 per tonne to stand at RMB 20,000 per tonne and RMB 21,000 per tonne, respectively, on March 4, 2024.
