China’s alumina imports in January dropped 72 per cent from the same period previous year. China imported 73,624 tonnes of alumina from the global market, according to China's customs data.

China’s alumina imports from Indonesia were up 4.74 per cent YoY in January 2018. Indonesia exported 31, 457 tonnes of alumina to China. Australia’s alumina exports to China continued to decline in January. Australia exported 34,500 tonnes of alumina, down 77 per cent YoY.
Other exporting countries were Germany, Japan, France, India, the US and South Korea.
Total alumina exports by the country declined 24 per cent YoY reaching 4,093 tonnes in January. South Korea’s alumina imports from China were down 17 per cent YoY in January. China exported 1,797 tonnes of alumina to South Korea.
Other top alumina importers from China were Indonesia, North Korea, the US, Russia, Vietnam Taiwan (China) and Nigeria.
