China market reopens with upward trend, average spot alumina price stands at RMB 3602/tonne

China market has reopened today after the week-long Chinese National day holiday. SHFE base metals mostly opened higher on October 9, the first day following Chinese National Day holiday and SHFE aluminium increased over 1%. Shanghai Metals Market Statistics shows the average spot alumina price has been rising steadily and slowly through September and October to stand at RMB 3395.69/tonne for the monthly average. On October 9, Monday, the average alumina price stands at RMB 3602/tonne, an increase of RMB 50/tonne from the last closed RMB 3552/tonne on September 29.

Today’s spot alumina prices in the domestic markets are shown in the table below:

Alumina price from large scale alumina enterprises also climbed up in September and is unchanged over October. On October 9, Chalco alumina price stands unchanged at RMB 3540/tonne and is expected to move within a range of RMB 3,490- 3,590/t.

In the imported alumina market; monthly average price stands at RMB 3316/tonne and today’s price stands at RMB 3500/tonne, an increase of RMB 50/tonne from the last closed RMB 3450/tonne on September 29.

As for other raw materials are concerned, Average prebaked anode prices in East China market has climbed up about RMB 48/tonne to RMB 4462.5/tonne. The prices in Central China, Southwest China and Northwest China market have remained flat at RMB4220/t, RMB4275/t and RMB4600/tonne.

Bauxite prices in all provinces including Shanxi and Henan have remained unchanged today. Australian bauxite prices increased slightly to USD 46/tonne today.

A00 Aluminium Ingot prices up across all major markets after the holidays. The average price of A00 Aluminium Ingot would range between RMB 16,200 – 16,240/t and today’s average price stands at RMB 16,220/t, up from RMB 16,140/t on September 29.
