China Aluminum Output To Reach 24 Mln Tons By 2015 -Report
Beijing also plans to bring 75% of the country's aluminum capacity under the control of its top 10 producers by 2015, from 67% in 2010, director of the association's international department Bian Gang said in the report, citing China's 12th five-year plan for the nonferrous metals sector.
As part of the plan, China will phase out 800,000 tons of obsolete aluminum capacity, he said.
"The manufacturing structure will be revamped in the next five years, and we'll see more producers moving to areas where production costs are a lot lower," he said.
Zinc output and lead production are expected to reach 7.2 million tons and 6.2 million tons respectively by 2015, he said.
The top 10 copper producers may control more than 80% of China's total copper market by 2015, from 76% in 2010, he said.
The top 10 lead producers are expected to account for 55% of the country's total production, while the top 10 zinc smelters are likely to control 60% by 2015, he said.
