China alumina prices consolidate while aluminium fluoride drops on sluggish demand

China alumina prices after rising rapidly for a while fell down as some dealers from the SME sector started selling in the domestic market. However, since most sellers kept their offers firm, alumina prices started consolidating with a decreasing trend. Currently, spot alumina prices remain stable across major China markets.

As on July 4, the prices are as follows:

The price of aluminium fluoride (AF-0&AF-1) has dropped significantly. As on Tuesday, July 4, aluminium fluoride price in China range at RMB 8,900-9,100 per tonne. The average price stands at RMB 9,000 per tonne, down 1.1 per cent from its previous close of RMB 9,100 per tonne on July 3. The last price drop before this was registered on June 7, before which average aluminium fluoride price stood at RMB 9,300 per tonne.

BAIINFO in its latest survey report states that aluminium fluoride price will hover at lows in the short run due to imbalance in supply-demand, but it will still be firm and the decrease a limited one because of the recent environment protection inspections.

The average price of prebaked anode (Northwest China) and Cryolite stand at RMB 4,100 per tonne and RMB 6,100 per tonne as on July 4. The prices have been holding grounds since middle of June this year.
