C.S. Aluminum Corp., an affiliate of the CSC Group, has recently decided to budget NT$25 billion to expand capacities in Taiwan and China, the completion of which will enable the supplier to integrate upstream and downstream operations, including melting, refining and production of high-end aluminum products for automobiles. Such move will help the company to markedly improve operations and boost international recognition, in addition to helping southern Taiwan-based manufacturers of aluminum products to build sales.

Fully CSC owned, C.S. Aluminum is Taiwan’s largest manufacturer of aluminum products, backed by wide-ranging facilities to processing aluminum billets, coils etc., which are extensively used in the food packaging, electronics, machinery and construction sectors.

With support from the parent firm, C.S. Aluminum has kicked off expansion of its headquarter plant in Kaohsiung City, southern Taiwan at a cost of NT$11.7 billion, which is expected to be completed sometime 2014 when annual capacity will rise to 260,000 metric tons from the present 120,000 metric tons.

The company will also build an aluminum smelter and refinery somewhere in China for NT$13.25 billion, which will achieve integrated production to cover upstream aluminum smelting, refining and downstream production.

C.S. Aluminum sells 60% of total output to manufacturers of bottle caps with another 20% going to the 3C (computers, consumer electronics and communications) and information-technology sectors. (by Ben Shen)
