This new state-of-the-art plant is set to bolster the company’s role as a key supplier of magnetic cylinders used in the high-speed printing of aluminium beverage and aerosol cans. The facility was officially introduced to the public during a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a proud milestone in Bunting’s journey and reinforcing its commitment to innovation, precision, and support for the ever-evolving packaging industry.

Inside the new facility of Bunting Magnetics

The 16,000-square-foot facility is equipped with advanced robotic machining systems and climate-controlled environments that ensure precision tolerances as tight as 1/10,000 of an inch. Bunting’s magnetic cylinders play a vital role in global aluminium beverage can production, enabling fast and accurate label changes essential for high-speed manufacturing lines.

Bunting’s magnetic cylinders utilise powerful magnets to securely snap metal printing plates into place, allowing for rapid plate changes and the execution of intricate designs. The new automated production line runs continuously, 24/7, including unattended overnight shifts. To maintain exceptional precision, the facility’s temperature is tightly regulated within a four-degree range (68–72°F). During assembly, components are cryogenically cooled to -80°F, ensuring a permanent interference fit as they return to ambient temperature.

Bunting is also transferring equipment from its recent acquisition of TD Wright in Minnesota to the Newton facility, enhancing its capabilities and generating new local employment opportunities. The company currently employs approximately 100 people in Newton and a total of 240 worldwide.

Founded in 1959, Bunting has established itself as a global leader in magnetic separation, metal detection, and industrial conveyor solutions, serving industries such as food processing, plastics, recycling, and more. Despite global challenges, the company continues to prioritise innovation, invest in advanced technologies, and reinforce its commitment to American manufacturing.
