Bridgnorth Aluminium commits to county-wide community support initiative

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Bridgnorth Aluminium has added its name to a growing list of businesses backing community-led work across Shropshire, formally joining the Shropshire Investors in Community programme. The move brings one of the county’s largest employers into a scheme designed to channel long-term support towards charities and grassroots organisations working at the local level.

Based at Stourbridge Road in Bridgnorth, the aluminium manufacturer employs more than 330 people and operates from a 66-acre site in the town. By signing up to the initiative, run by Shropshire Community Foundation, the company will contribute to projects aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and strengthening community groups across the county.

Bridgnorth Aluminium, the UK’s only fully integrated producer of flat rolled aluminium coils, said the decision reflects its long-standing ties to the area and its desire to play a broader role beyond manufacturing.

Commercial director Adrian Musgrave said the company’s connection to Shropshire stretches back more than seven decades. He said,  “Generations of local people have helped shape our story, and becoming a Shropshire Investor in Community feels like a natural way to give something back.”

He added,  “At a time when the charity and voluntary sector is under more pressure than ever, this allows us to continue supporting the projects and organisations that make such a difference to life in Shropshire”.

The Shropshire Investors in Community scheme brings together businesses and organisations of varying sizes, encouraging long-term commitment rather than one-off donations. It aims to build sustainable funding that can respond to local needs as they arise.

Sonia Roberts MBE, a trustee of Shropshire Community Foundation, welcomed Bridgnorth Aluminium’s involvement, describing it as a meaningful endorsement of the programme’s goals.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Bridgnorth Aluminium on board”,  she said. She added that this investment will go far beyond employment and economic contribution and strengthen the social fabric of the communities.

Bridgnorth Aluminium already has a history of local engagement, including supporting community groups, building a local supply chain, and offering apprenticeships and training opportunities to people from the area. Its decision to join the Investors in Community scheme builds on that foundation, reinforcing its role as a long-term stakeholder in Shropshire’s social and economic life.
