In 2022, beer drinkers may have to pay extra for their beloved artisan beverages. Aluminium cans are in low supply due to supply chain difficulties. Furthermore, wholesalers have modified the minimum quantity of cans required to satisfy an order, making it more difficult for small breweries to purchase their usual quantities of cans.

"We actually have a number of sources of cans but usually when someone like Ball's Caliber makes a change, the industry tends to follow the leader. We were lucky to get a shipment of cans these last few weeks," stated Adam Wojcik, PHX Beer Co.'s brewery director.
The news of Ball Corp., aluminium can producer increasing the minimum amount of cans that some makers must purchase from one truckload to five truckloads, has already sent shockwaves throughout the craft beer sectors. Changing materials might be more costly. Breweries may also have to be highly selective about which beers they may produce. According to the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, there are roughly 100 breweries in Arizona with 120 sites.
"Oftentimes, it is a family-owned business," said Rob Fullmer, the guild's executive director.
Most brewers in Arizona, according to Fullmer, are unable to meet the new regulations.
"Ninety percent of our breweries, so 90 out of 100, could not fill five truckloads of beer in an entire year," added Rob Fullmer.

According to Fullmer, businesses will have to reduce their operations or raise their pricing. Fullmer stated that breweries submitted their final can purchases in October. He predicted that the canning issues would continue into the spring.
